Consent comes before any future companion use.

EverTheirs begins with a private Legacy Vault. Any future companion experience should be built only from material the creator reviewed and approved.

Written vault consent

When you build a Legacy Vault, you are choosing what to preserve. That choice is the first form of consent. Entries belong to you and remain private by default until you decide otherwise.

Approved-for-vault vs approved-for-future-companion

Saving an entry to your vault does not automatically approve it for any future companion experience. Approval for future companion use is a separate, explicit decision made entry by entry, or by category, in your Profile & Privacy settings.

Do-not-use controls

You can mark any entry as do-not-use for future companion features. Entries marked this way will not be drawn on by any future companion experience, even if they remain stored in your vault.

Voice and likeness require separate consent

Voice, video, and likeness features will require clear, separate, and person-specific consent before any voice or likeness is used. You will decide what is captured, how it is used, and who may experience it. These features are in development.

No invented memories

A future companion should never invent memories, fabricate beliefs you did not express, or present generated content as if it were a real statement you made. If the vault does not contain an answer, the companion should say so honestly rather than improvise.

Revoking or changing consent

You may revoke or change consent at any time. Removing an entry, updating its permissions, or turning off future companion use will take effect for any subsequent use. Approval is intentional, never automatic.

Legacy Steward role

You may designate a trusted Legacy Steward who can help protect your wishes and guide loved ones in receiving entries at the right time. The Steward does not override your consent settings; their role is to honor them with care.

Future features are in development

Any future companion experience offered by EverTheirs is in development. It is not currently a substitute for the person, and should not be treated as the person, a replacement for the person, or proof of presence. It should be a guided way to access prepared words and memories with boundaries.
